The Albany Latin Festival Association is proud to present the Albany Latin Festival Scholarship through our partnership with the th Annual ¡Sí, Se Puede! Latino Youth Conference presented by the Capital District YMCA.

Latino High School Seniors and College Freshmen in area schools are eligible to win a $250 scholarships to the college of their choice.

Students are invited to submit an scholarship application and essay to be considered for one of two $250 Albany Latin Festival Association Scholarship awards.  Winners will be notified in mid-October .

OFFICIAL RULES and GUIDELINES

The scholarships are offered in partnership with the Capital District YMCA Latino Youth Conference.  The contest is open to Hispanic/ Latino High School Senior (12th grade) students and College Freshmen in the Capital Region who register and attend the th Annual ¡Sí, Se Puede! Latino Youth Conference in late October 2012 at the College of Saint Rose.

To enter the contest, download an Scholarship Application application and write your essay on one of these topics.


ESSAY TOPICS

  1. The Albany Latin Fest, What it Means to Me, My Family, My Friends, and My Community
  2. How Music has Influenced Me and My Goals
  3. Music . . . A Key to the Future

ELIGIBILITY RULES

  1. Applicants must complete an Entry form
  2. Applicants must be of Latino/Hispanic heritage (at least one parent must be Latino/Hispanic)
  3. Entries must be emailed to LatinoYouthConference@gmail.com or post-marked by October 1, and mailed to:

    Attn: Latino Youth Conference Creative Work Contest

    Albany, NY 12205
  4. Essays must reflect Latino Heritage and Culture in a positive and inspiring way
  5. Finalists must be registered and present at the Latino Youth Conference to win.  Prizes will only be awarded during the conference in late October .
  6. Essay entries must be between 300 words, typed and doubled spaced and address one essay topic listed above
  7. Students must be accepted by and attend college by the Fall
  8. Each scholarship award will be dispensed in the student's name in August .
